I'm Jennifer...you can call me Jenn (or Jennifer), but nothing else. I'm a wife, daughter, sister, best friend and *future* mother. My heart belongs to my husband and that will never change. This blog is about anything and everything I want to write about including Josh and I's prolonged journey to parenthood and all that journey entails. There will be tears shed, laughs and random posts. I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I do writing it.
We take any opportunity we can to get dressed up for Halloween. We are loving that Halloween falls on a weekend this year because not only did we get to dress up for our party last week, but my BFF, Teresa and I got to dress up when we went out last night. Josh was lazy and didn't want to dress up. :(
Here are some pics from last night:
We are taking Teresa's kiddos trick-or-treating tonight. Hope everyone has had a wonderful and safe Halloween!
Today's Thankful Thursday post seems silly and childish but whatever. I'm thankful for it! :)
I'm thankful that Josh is actually going to go to the grocery store with me tonight. In the 2.5 years we have been together, he has only really gone grocery shopping with me 2, maybe 3, times.
I will probably regret this though. One time we went together and spent $500! Although, that was because we went to Wal-Mart and got some other things but still, we won't be going to Wal-Mart this time. We'll be going Krogering. There isn't much we can get there besides food so we should be good.
*Disclaimer- there are more pictures than any blog post should ever need. Sorry!*
Our annual Halloween Party was this past Saturday. I finally got the pictures downloaded and thought I would share some of them with you.
Our friend Bryan decided he would be Gumby. He was the life of the party and I would say that 80% of my pictures were of him. He's such a show stealer! :)
First, I'll show you some of the decorations. Our zombie babies were a huge hit. In addition to the babies, we had the hanging heads. The ledge inside that some of the babies sat on. This is the outside at night. I couldn't capture all the lights that were on the house because I have a crappy camera but we had some red & blue lights by the door and the strobe lights in the yard. I made cupcakes and cookies for the first time! I had some problems with the icing but overall, I'm proud of myself and everyone said they were great! Finally, here's some pics of people! :) Scott- The Cool YouTube Guy My extremely drunk husband and I Monte and I Teresa (aka Herbert) and I Tina (Mother-in-Law) and I Cody (Younger Brother-in-Law) and I Cody, his girlfriend, and his friend, Corey Mother and Father in Law, John and Tina Gumby (Bryan) and Josh Again, my husband was very drunk
Some amazing friends of mine compiled a list of inspirational quotes today and I felt compelled to list some of my favorite ones here. My journey to parenthood, along with several other of my friends, hasn't exactly been the easiest road but with a little confidence, some tears and e-hugs, and a lot of hope, I know I will be a mother one day as will all of them.
"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all." ~Dale Carnegie "Hope is the companion of power, and mother of success; for who so hopes strongly has within him the gift of miracles." ~Samuel Smiles
"Perseverance is failing 19 times and succeeding the 20th." ~Julie Andrews
"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." ~ Thomas A. Edison
"To hope means to be ready at every moment for that which is not yet born, and yet not become desperate if there is no birth in our lifetime." ~Emily Dickinson
"I hope we can be happy where we are, be grateful for our blessings now, here accept that challenge that is ours and make the most of it, and not be envious of others." ~Ezra Taft Benson
"Hope is putting faith to work when doubting would be easier." ~ Author Unknown
"I have failed my way to success." ~ Thomas A. Edison
"When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." ~Franklin D. Roosevelt
The Serenity Prayer- "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting the hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen."
"Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end."
"Being challenged in life is inevitable, but defeat is optional." ~Roger Crawford
"Be not afraid, only believe." ~Mark 5:36
"And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbows." ~G.K. Charleston
"Hope is a good thing-maybe the best thing, and no good thing ever dies." ~Stephen King- Shawshank Redemption
"I have to keep breathing because tomorrow the sun will rise and who know what the tide will bring." ~From the movie Cast Away
"Perseverance is the confrontation between the river and the rock. The river always wins...Not through strength but through perseverance."
Though you may be under a dark tree, always look for the light shining through the branches."
"Difficult times have helped me understand better than before, how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way, and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever."
"They take pictures of mountain climbers at the top of the mountain. They're smiling, ecstatic, triumphant. They don't take pictures along theway, because who wants to remember the rest of it? We push ourselves because we have to, not because we like it. The relentless climb, the pain and anguish of taking it to the next level, nobody takes pictures of that. Nobody wants to remember; we just want to remember the view from the top. The breathtaking moment on the edge of the world. That's what keeps us climbing- and it's worth the pain. That's the crazy part: it's worth anything."
***My 3 favorite from our compilation today***
"When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." ~Harriet Beecher Stowe
"Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never have's, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be." ~Shel Silverstein
"Your God is big, he has a plan for you. And one day, that plan will call you Mommy." ~From a fellow e-friend's family member
If you made it through those without crying, congratulations. I was in tears today reading through all the quotes. It really puts this entire journey into perspective. I will always have those days where I feel like a broken, useless, infertile woman but I will look back at my bracelet that I wear everyday and look back at these wonderful quotes and know that one day I will be a mother and all this mess will be worth it.
Like I said yesterday, I have been horrible at my regular posts so here's to getting back on track.
Today, I am thankful for the amazing e-friends that I have made through TB. Without their love and support over the last year, I would not be where I am today. Many of these internet strangers (that sounds so bad) have turned into some of my real life, talk to all the time, on my Facebook(because nothing in life is official until it is on FB) friends. They have saved me so many times and given me an outlet to vent, cry, laugh and celebrate with over the last year.
I <3 you all so much. Some of you may not even know that you're who I'm talking about but I am thankful for you and I am thankful for the chance to get to know you and share our journeys together.
It's been a VERY long time since I did a Wishful Wednesday post so I really need to buckle down and start posting on a regular basis again.
Today, I really wish that someone would be so gracious and give me a shopping spree with my favorite Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Angela Waters. There's so much I need (ok..want)!
I kid you not, I have 2 spreadsheets just for my Stampin' Up stuff. I have one for inventory and one "Wish List". Yes, it's that bad people. My wish list is $3,000.00 worth of stuff but it's all stuff I need. (Need sounds so much better than want...get off my back!).
For those of you who don't know, I use Stampin' Up products to handmake all my cards and to do my scrapbooks with but there is soo much more to do. I'll have to take some pictures of Angela's creations next time I see her so ya'll can see everything. It's amazing!
My Christmas cards are coming along mighty nicely though. Can't wait to have them all finished! I think ya'll might just be impressed. :)
Just because I am bored and super lame today, I present to you 75 questions you've been dying to ask me. Ok...not really, but like I said, I'm bored and really need something to do for the next 30 minutes. Feel free to not read all of them. :)
*Disclaimer: Yes, this is a myspace survey. Oh the things I will do when bored and have google.

WOW...that was tough to get through. It's been YEARS since I was even on Myspace and I have no idea how I ALWAYS filled those things out.
Whoever made it though that deserves a medal or something.
Mom and I went shopping Saturday for her some new clothes. All of hers are falling off. Literally. For as long as I can remember, my mom has always been overweight. She finally decided that she is going to do something about it. In May she started seeing a weight-loss doctor. With the help of the proper vitamins, exercise and the right diet, I am so proud to say that my mom has lost almost 60 pounds in 5 months. She is up to walking 2.5 miles a day too!
It was actually fun clothes shopping with her for once. She only has one more size to go before she can't wear the jeans at the plus size store anymore! YAY! We even got to go to a department store and she was able to try on some clothes there. She hasn't been able to do that in 20 years probably.
I couldn't believe the difference in her attitude when we were shopping. She was excited to actually be trying on clothes.
I have a before and after picture below. The before picture was taken at my wedding in January. She was at her heaviest point then.
Before
After (before shopping so her shirt is still really baggy)
I am so very proud of her. I am so happy that she is getting healthy and will be able to run around with her grandchildren. Love you mom!
my house is just full of surprises! Some of you might remember my big lizard in the shower fiasco a couple of months ago, I thought that was bad. Well, last night Josh and I were sitting on the couch minding our own business when out of the corner of my eye I see a damn mouse run across the kitchen floor. SERIOUSLY! I have never screamed so loud in my life. I have also never seen a mouse before. Josh, of course, thought it was hilarious. He says it came in the house through the garage.
I will be just fine if I never have to see another lizard or mouse again in my life! Over it! Not to mention, I swear my house isn't dirty. It's really clean. There aren't piles of crap everywhere so I don't know why these critters like coming to my house. I don't understand.
Honey, sometimes you say the cutest things to try to make me feel better and I definitely give you an "A" and a smile for effort.
Here's the story devoted blog readers (whom I love, BTW):
Wednesday night Josh and I had dinner with my BFF, Teresa and her boyfriend, Bryan. Teresa has 2 children; a boy, Anthony, who is 10 and a girl, Isabelle, who is 8 or 9. We somehow got on the topic of a pumpkin patch. Teresa shares with me that it is a tradition in her household to go to a pumpkin patch every year and each person gets their own pumpkin to decorate and/or carve. I shared that I have never been to a pumpkin patch but that I want to go so bad. I think it would be an awesome experience and have always wanted to go. The only pumpkins I ever had were from the front of Kroger that I begged my mom for when we went grocery shopping and when an old friend went and got a bunch of them and I decorated them with her and her child in 2007.
My dear, sweet husband turns to me and says "don't worry, you can experience it with our kid next year". Oh honey, if only I could believe that. I certainly do hope you're right but to be realistic here: The kid at most (if I were to get pregnant right now) would be 3 months old (and that may even too old, I don't feel like doing math right now). I don't think taking a 3 month old to a pumpkin patch is exactly what I had in mind. Thanks for trying though. It really did make me smile and feel a bit better because that is just one more thing that I can add to my list of reasons why I can't wait to be a mother.
So, I'm shooting for a 2012 pumpkin patch trip where baby and I can share the experience for the first time together! Sounds good, right? :)
I cannot believe it is already October! Where in this world has the time gone? It seems like Josh and I got married last week when, in fact, it will be 9 months tomorrow since the wedding. I can't believe the holidays are just around the corner. I am so ready for Christmas. I didn't decorate at all last year, not even a tree because of the wedding and all the chaos that entailed. This year I am going all out! I am so excited!
Tonight Josh and I will decorate for Halloween. I cannot wait for you guys to see the pictures from that! It is nothing like what it used to be though. Since I painted the house, I have not allowed him to black out most of the house with black tarps. Actually, everything downstairs used to be covered with black tarps except the kitchen. For Halloween, instead of blacking out the kitchen with tarps, the kitchen always has black lights (that don't show up in pictures ::insert pouty face here::)I don't want the walls to get messed up somehow so no more black tarps starting this year. Here are some pictures from the 2008 Halloween Party. Our friend Scott helping us out. Josh likes freakin' me out on that ledge!
This is my favorite Halloween costume so far(also from 2008). Again, the kitchen was blacked out with a black light. So mad it doesn't show in pictures! And some more pictures just for the hell of it. :) I'm a picture whore and this was, by far, the best party we ever had!
Matt and I. He was too cool to dress up. Keg stand? This post took a completely different turn then I had originally expected and now I really can't wait to get the Halloween show on the road.
Anyway, tonight we decorate outside and we may be getting more Zombie Babies tonight as well. Tomorrow, we go buy costumes and probably more decorations because well.... we have a problem. :)
I'm probably more excited than any one person should be for Halloween but seriously, when can an adult have an excuse to dress up in any kind of costume, wear a ton of make-up, and have scary and just absolutely unexpected shit jump out in front of you and it be completely acceptable? My point exactly! :)
